Why people with diabetes may be at increased risk of Vitamin B deficiency

  • Certain tablets/capsules used to treat diabetes can lower Vitamin B12 levels and cause symptoms of Vitamin B12 deficiency 2
  • 1 in 2 people with diabetes may develop peripheral neuropathy (pins-and-needles, numbness, weakness of hands and feet) 1
  • People with diabetes may be at increased risk of Vitamin B1, B6, B12 deficiencies (these vitamins are all important for normal nerve function) 1

What are the benefits of Vitamin B1, B6 and B12?

All three of these B Vitamins help the body to convert the carbohydrates, protein and fats in food into energy that can be used by the body.3,4 They are also important for the maintenance of healthy nerve tissue.3 Other functions include:

What is Neurobion®?

Neurobion® is South Africa’s number 1 Vitamin B treatment.7
Neurobion® Tablets are indicated where a deficiency of the relevant vitamins exist. Neurobion® Tablets contain three B Vitamins:
• 100 mg Vitamin B1 (thiamine)
• 200 mg Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine)
• 200 μg Vitamin B12 (cobalamin)

You may need to take Neurobion® for as long as you are at risk of Vitamin B deficiency.2
